Horn of Extinction, India - Limited Edition
STORY
8% of the profit goes to WILD Nature Foundation
Hunted almost to extinction! The greater one-horned rhinos, like other rhinos, were killed for their horns. Horns are made solely of keratin, a fibrous protein like the one found in our hair and nails. Today, the gene for having a large and beautiful horn is gone – but this might have saved the rhinos. At the beginning of the 20th century, the governments of both India and Nepal stepped up to save the remaining 200 rhinos, and today this counts as a success story: There are now 2,200 mature individuals according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Animals.
