It was a delicate moment when we photographed this female Asian elephant. She was standing in front of the 5-metre tall elephant grass protecting her back. Here she could stand still while getting ready to give birth to a calf weighing approximately 100 kilos after 22 months of pregnancy. This is the longest gestation period of any animal on the planet.
